Ilesa Grammar School Old Students’ Association

Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole

Young Folorunso attended Ilesa Grammar School from 1966 to 1972 where he obtained Grade I with distinction in 1970 and the Higher School Certificate in 1972. He obtained his MBBS degree from the University of Ibadan in 1978. A Professor of Medicine since 1997, Alumnus Adewole has been the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan since 1st December, 2010. Among other immense contributions, Professor Adewole has been singlehandedly paying the salaries of some science teachers at Ilegrams for years.

Professor Ayobanji Ayoola

Professor of Medicine and a renowned Hepatogastroenterologist of international repute, he attended Ilesa Grammar School between 1958 and 1962. He qualified as a medical doctor after bagging his MBBS from the University of Ibadan in 1969. The foundation President, Ilesha Grammar School Old students Association of North America, he is currently the Medical Director of the HEAL Medical Group at the Eden Hill Medical Center at Dover. He is also the current CEO of the Healthcare Educators of Delaware LLC USA.

Engineer Joseph Folorunso Labeodan

A successful professional, young Folorunso attended Ilesa Grammar School from 1950 to 1955. He was the school’s Senior Prefect in his final year. He subsequently attended the Yaba Technical Institute (now Yaba College of Technology) for his OND and HND (1966). He also passed the examination of the London Institute of Structural Engineers and he is a fellow of the Nigerian Association of Technological Engineers. A prominent member of the famous Ilegrams 1955 Set, he performed creditably as the contractor for the construction of the Reverend Lahanmi Memorial Library and his contributions to the growth and development of Ilesa Grammar School has been monumental.

Professor Abiodun A. Olowe

Abiodun Agboola Olowe attended Ilesa Grammar School from 1970 to 1975, winning the best Mathematics student award in 1973 and the best Physics student in 1974. He graduated with division one with distinction. He subsequently graduated with the best result in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in 1981 and was offered scholarship by the French government for graduate studies in France, bagging M.Sc in Materials Science from the University of Lorraine, Nancy, in 1985 and Ph.D (with distinction) in Materials Science and Engineering from the same University in 1988. A professor of Petroleum Engineering Technology at Houston Community College, USA, he was pioneer Vice-President of Ilesa Grammar School Old Students’ Association in North America. He was instrumental to the formation of the group. A Programmer and Theologian, he developed, runs and funds the alumni website, ilegrams.org.

Lt. Col. Titus Olufemi Olafadunsin (Rtd)

A member of the famous Ilegrams Club 56 – 60 and retired officer of the Nigerian Army whose enduring love and passion for Ilegrams knows no bounds, he has been teaching Mathematics to students of the school (gratis) for years. He also sponsors a number of Ilegrams’ Old Students through higher institutions.

Dr Oladimeji Alo

Oladimeji Israel Alo attended Ilesa Grammar School from 1968 to 1972 for his West African School Certificate. He subsequently bagged higher degrees in Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) between 1974 and 1978 (B. Sc.), 1980 (M.Sc Industrial Sociology) and 1984 (PhD in Industrial Sociology). He worked as a lecturer at the OAU before quitting whilst being Lecturer Grade 1 in 1987. He worked with Price Waterhouse Associates Limited, Coopers & Lybrand Associates and Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC), Lagos, after which he has been Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer at Excel Professional Services Limited, Lagos from 2009 till date. He was Visiting Lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), United States of America from January to March, 1992. Dr Alo has worked and functioned in several capacities across various organisations and bodies. He was President/Chairman of Council – Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (2007-2010), President, West African Bankers’ Association (1998/1999), and Chairman – Editorial Board, Journal of Banking & Finance (1996 to 2009), among others. He is a member of the famous 68 – 72 Club that rehabilitated the old jubilee building among many other projects within Ilesa Grammar School.

Barrister Olumuyiwa Aduroja, SAN

He attended Ilesa Grammar School from 1965 -1969. He qualified as a Legal Practitioner after bagging LL.B from the University of Lagos and B.L from the Nigerian Law School in 1977 and 1978 respectively. He was appointed Attorney General, Osun State in 1999 and became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2012. He belongs to ILEGSOSA 1969 Club, a Class that erected a pit toilet in the school some years ago and also built a Medical Centre that will be commissioned soon.

Professor Olufemi Odekunle

Olufemi attended Ilesa Grammar School between 1958 and 1962, and subsequently trained at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria (1965-1968) and the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA (1969-1974) in Sociology and Criminology, respectively. He returned to Nigeria in 1974 to assume duties as Lecturer II in Ahmadu Bello University, rising through the ranks to become a professor in 1985. Widely-acknowledged as the first professor in Nigeria with specialization in Criminology, he retired from the services of ABU in October, 2006 and he is currently a “freelance” public-intellectual and Consultant in criminological and social-science issues and on contract-appointment with the University of Abuja, Abuja, Nigeria, where he teaches Criminology and served as the first Director of the University’s newly-created Centre for Corruption Studies for about two years (2008 -2010).

Dr. (Chief) Sir Moses Moboluwaji Omole

Dr Omole belongs to the famous Club 56 – 60 having attended Ilesa Grammar School in those years. He subsequently studied in Europe, bagging both M.Sc. and PhD degrees in Agriculture (in defunct USSR and United Kingdom). He has worked as an Agriculturist/Scientist in different capacities and currently an Associate Professor at the Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) Ikeji-Arakeji Ilesa, Osun State. Dr. Omole has served Ilesa Grammar School in different capacities. He was the second longest-serving National Secretary-General of ILEGSOSA up to 2013 and he is the longest serving member and the Treasurer of the School’s Board of Governors till date. He is the Treasurer of Club 56 – 60 and Grand Patron of 1999 and 2003 Sets. He is happily married to Pastor (Mrs.) Esther F. Omole and blessed with children and grandchildren

Engineer (Chief) S. O. Fadare

A former Local Government Chairman in Osun State, he was a student at Ilesa Grammar School from 1960 to 1964. He is the current Chairman of the Board of the Osun State Water Corporation. He has served Ilegrams in many capacities including being the current Chairman of the very vibrant Ibadan Chapter of ILEGSOSA and Chairman of the 80thAnniversary Planning Committee.

Mr. Adediran Akinjogbin

A mathematician turned Quantity Surveyor, Mr. Akinjogbin attended Ilesa Grammar School from 1965 and 1969.He is the President of of ILEGSOSA 1969 Club, a Class that erected a pit toilet in the school some years ago and also built a Medical Centre that will be commissioned soon.

Professor Samuel Ore Asaolu

Samuel Ore Asaolu attended Ilesa Grammar School between 1963 and 1967 for his West African School Certificate. He subsequently bagged a degree in Zoology at the then University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), in 1973. Between 1974 and 1977, Ore studied for his PhD in Parasitology from the University of Cambridge, UK, bagging it at 27. He assumed duty as Lecturer at Ife’s Department of Zoology in 1977, and rose through the ranks to become a professor in 1994. Prof. Asaolu has been the president of the 1963 to 1967 group of the Ilesa Grammar School Old Students’ Association since inception and the group has contributed significantly to the alma mater.

Professor Foluso Okunmadewa

One of the most passionate Old Students who are proud of our deal alma mater, he attended Ilesa Grammar School from 1969 to 1975, for both O and A Levels successively. He subsequently worked as Junior Tutor, Ilesa Grammar School from 1975 to 76. He joined the staff of the Department of Agricultural Economics, University of Ibadan in 1989 after having successfully completed his B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D degrees from the same Department. He rose to the rank of Professor in October 2002 – with specialization in Welfare Economics. He has been the Sector Leader of the Human Development Team in the Nigerian Country office of the World Bank, Abuja, since 2002. He has been paying the salaries of some science teachers at Ilegrams for years.

Navy Commander Oluseyi Sosan (Rtd)

Oluseyi was at Ilesha Grammar School from 1956 to 1959 where he won laurels for the school in the AIONIAN games shotput and discuss events. He was also the school’s pianist. He joined the Royal Nigeria Navy in 1960 where he was selected to be part of the Corps of Cadets that formed the ceremonial parade for Nigerian independence on October 1st 1960. In addition to a fine and distinguished career in the Nigerian Navy, he is a notable Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow. Commander Seyi SOSAN is happily married to beautiful SARAH, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Lagos State and they are blessed with children and grandchildren. He is a member of the famous Club 56 – 60 Set, a Set whose endless contributions adorn the entire landscape of Ilesa Grammar School, both in terms of physical structures and services.

Dr Wale Bolorunduro

Wale Bolorunduro attended Ilesa Grammar School, completing his studies as the school’s best student in 1984. He repeated the same feat while graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 1990. He also obtained with awards, Masters Degree (Business Management) and PhD degree from the University of British Columbia in Canada in 1999 and 2002 respectively. He later obtained Masters degree in Corporate Governance from Leeds Business School, United Kingdom in 2009. He has worked with Arthur Andersen & Co. Lagos, Zenith Bank, Arthur Andersen & Co. Vancouver B.C. Canada, BMO Nesbitt Burns, Vancouver, B.C. Canada, and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, B.C, Canada. He was at Zenith Bank where he rose through the ranks to become the General Manager, Head of the Infrastructure and Power Sector (Corporate Banking) from 2007–2011. A man with a burning passion for Ilesa Grammar School as shown through his support for projects, he is the Commissioner for Finance, Economic Planning and Budgeting in the State of Osun.

Professor Idowu Olayinka

Idowu Olayinka attended lIesa Grammar School from 1970 to 1975 for both his o’levels and A’levels. He read Geology at the University of Ibadan between 1977 and 1981, where he obtained a BSc. He obtained MSc (Geophysics) of the University of London and the Diploma of Membership of Imperial College, in July 1984. Between 1985 and 1987, he was at the University of Birmingham, for a doctoral research in Applied Geophysics. He joined the academic staff of the University of Ibadan in April 1988, as Lecturer Grade II and rose through the ranks to become Professor of Applied Geophysics in 1999. After serving in different capacities including Dean of the Postgraduate College, he has been the Deputy Vice Chancellor (DVC) academic at the University of Ibadan since 2010. He is happily married to Eyiwumi and they have two lovely children. His love for Ilegrams has been clearly demonstrated through various means.
